prototypen.com 0.2b - main page, rss feeds

We are moving up the release letter. The mainpage is now fully working. It displays the most recent pics of all of the site and for each subsite and it displayes the last 6 articles published on the site and made available to the front page.

That is the release state of the frontpage. Features for the future are: search right from the frontpage (ones search is enabled - which only makes sense when there is enough content anyway). Fancy javascript fading through the recent articles and when through with these pulling some older ones. For the second we have some interface problems as how to scroll to an dynamic list of nodes - but its all advanced stuff anyway. What will happen in the next iteration of the homepage is getting some more protocategories on there. Hot contenders: radio, protobeamaz, mogreens - probably in that order.

Also RSS feeds are working now sidewide. If a page does not have an rss feed for itself it uses the RSS feed of the category above. The front page has articles from the whole site that are set to publish on the front page - so that is most likely the rss feed you want to get into your reader if you are interested in everything that me are doing.

The picture shows the underlaying sitemap for the front page - these site map pngs is how all the designs for the site are done, even so they are big they require only one request from the server which makes the whole page load much faster and once they are in the cache they don´t have to be reloaded and are not thrown out for quite a while so your general browsing experience should be fine. At the moment so notice that the caching of the site is not enabled and also there is still some massive amounts of debug code everywhere that slow things down - it will get only faster from this point on.

Next step is making amazon S3 upload for big files work because we are running out of space on our hosting solution. Then its designing the next 3 modules - and then we are actually close to a 0.9b. So stay tuned.
